Chamber Music Festival “Stradun Classic” – Postcards

Marija Pavlović, Croatian clarinetist and Stradun Classic festival director, curates unique themed programs in Dubrovnik. She combines popular and lesser-known chamber works, featuring international artists and Croatian composers. This approach promotes local culture while fostering global collaboration in music.
POSTCARDS
This program presents compositions as postcards, capturing moments in time and place.
1832 Milano
Glinka wrote Trio Pathetique for La Scala musicians during his Italian stay.
1932 London
Britten’s Phantasy Quartet, a student work for the Cobbett competition, was broadcast on BBC3 by Leon Goossens.
1899 Bayern
Reger’s Scherzino, a small horn and strings piece, echoes Brahms’ influence.
2014 Zagreb
Končić’s Fantastical Suite evokes a journey through various scenes.
1890 Firenze
Tchaikovsky composed Souvenir de Florence after visiting the city, writing to von Meck: “I wrote it with the greatest enthusiasm and with the least exertion.”
