Linđo is a traditional folk dance that has been an integral part of Dubrovnik’s cultural heritage for centuries. Originating in the rural areas Konavle and Primorje, Linđo has always been capturing the hearts of the locals which resulted in establishing the official Linđo Folklore Ensemble in in 1965. It has since successfully grown to a consistent group of over 300 young men and women, with frequent performances all around the globe. Although the ensemble is performing numerous folk dances from all around Croatia, wearing stunning handmade folk outfits, their most popular dance remains Linđo, characterized by its upbeat tempo, energetic movements, and the use of the lijerica, a traditional three-stringed instrument.
To us in Dubrovnik, Linđo is more than just a dance; it is a celebration of our cultural heritage and a testament to our enduring love for music, rhythm, and community.
