This year’s edition of the festival is set to take place in June, offering a variety of events and experiences for attendees to enjoy.

Ponta Lopud’s vision

Ponta Lopud aims to create a friendly and informal atmosphere where young film artists can gain knowledge and experience from already established, world-class professionals. In turn, these professionals take in inspiration from Lopud, which is essential for any creative activity.

The festival also focuses on the promotion of tradition, culture, and historical heritage of the picturesque Lopud island and actively involves the local population in numerous program events, hence encourages the coexistence of the local community and festival guests.

Over the years, the Ponta Lopud Film Festival has attracted the participation of professionals whose work and achievements have permanently marked and enriched film art. Some of these masters and lecturers include Pawel Pawlikowski, Joel Coen, Frances McDormand, Peter Spears, Brian Swardstrom, Danis Tanović, and Michel Franco. This year’s program brings exciting workshop on acting by the renowned actor Edward Norton.

Festival features numerous events, from film screenings to workshops and masterclasses, as well as unique gastro experiences.

During the festival, attendees can enjoy evening film screenings at unique locations such as the fortress of the Franciscan monastery – Lopud 1483, and the beach of RMH Lafodia Sea Resort. In partnership with the Lopud 1483 Foundation of collector Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza, all visitors of the Ponta Lopud Film Festival can visit the restored Renaissance Franciscan monastery of Our Lady of Cave and the Thyssen-Bor family art collection, according to the pre-arranged schedule.

Local people actively participate in the festival program through the presentation of traditional handicrafts, souvenirs, customs, and local food. This involvement provides festival guests with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture.

How to get there

Located just a short distance from Dubrovnik, Lopud island is easily accessible by boat. During the festival days, a special boat transfer will be organized from Dubrovnik and back at a symbolic price. Visitors can choose from a range of accommodation options on the island, including hotels, guesthouses, and private rentals.
